Ukraine to sign common airspace deal with EU on June 5

The signing of the agreement on common airspace with the European Union will be held on June 5, 2014 at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the European Union, Infrastructure Minister Maksym Burbak told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday, – according to ukrinform.ua.

"We have provided all the documents to our European colleagues. They have made some adjustments. And during a meeting with our European colleagues and Jan Tombinski it was agreed that the deadline for signing the agreement is June 5, 2014. It will be a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the EU," he said.

Burbak recalled that this instrument will be introduced in the summer navigation season in 2015 in order to give the Ukrainian airlines time to adjust to European standards.

Similar agreements, the minister said, are also planned to be signed with the United States and Israel. "I signed a letter to the Minister of Transport of Israel over a meeting with the aim of signing the common airspace agreement the country. We are waiting for their response. Also we are waiting for the U.S. response to the signing of the agreement with them," the minister said.
